Hi Geordie,
Good to see you getting out and about again.
We went to Deepwater in 2005 on the way back from the cape. It is on the beach between 1770 and Bundaberg. We didn't camp there and only stopped and looked around and kept going. There are a couple of marked camping grounds at least one with toilets but would suggest to check the EPA site or whoever looks after them now to see what facilities are there. They are right on the beach but protected by the dunes. The water looked amazing when we were there and you just wanted to jump in though it would have been a bit chilly. I have heard from someone that vists often that getting a site isn't a problem except for peak times. You can also get onto the beach at Baffle Creek which is near the southern end but not sure where or how far you can go. There is also a camping ground at Baffle Creek. Hope this helps. Maybe you could post up something when you get back.
Katie.

we're back!! me had a good time there and were surprised at how quite it was there, we stayed at wreck rock camp ground, there are 10 camp sites 3 of were unused compost toilets and cold bore water showers and the turtle research people had an extra camp site there for them. there there from december to february! they gave a prestation on sunday night witch we both really enjoied.
wreck rock camp ground is a short walk from the beach witch has a rocky outcrop and some rock pools very nice! also some good fishing too!
we had a drive on rules beach, and a look around baffle creek. aswell as headinh north to agnes water and 1770, not much 4wding just 1 main track very easy but very nice all the same middle rock camp ground only had 1 group camping so yes it's quite!!! so for anyone keen it may be worth a look sometime
cheers
