Bribie Island- March 2015
We arrived on Bribie Island on Friday afternoon. The weather was beautiful. We put up our tent and took our table and chairs down to the beach. We were joined by Sam & Brad and Rob Mangelsdorf. Peter had been here previously but had to leave because his fridge was playing up. We cooked dinner on the beach and enjoyed watching the kangaroos on the beach. It was a full moon so it was quite bright. While sitting there the Queen Elizabeth cruise ship went past all lit up and looked quite spectacular.
On the Saturday morning we did a drive up the beach led by Brad. Along the way we stopped and looked at the old gun batteries ruins from back in world war 2 which was interesting.
We then look the inland track across the island to Poverty Creek. This was quite nice. Lots of trees and grass with kangaroos and birds. This used to be a cattle farm along time ago.
We then went on to Gallagher Pt for lunch. Rob put his fishing line in to try to catch some fish.
This is when the drive ended. We continued on to Bongaree Caravan pk for another night, Sam and Brad drove back to their camp for another night and Rob stayed fishing and then went home. We found the drive and the weekend very enjoyable. We took quite a few photos which are on our FB members only site. I’m sure Jim will up load some of them to the website.
