2016 Corroboree Woodford
Arrived Thursday around 5pm and found site allocated to CC4WD club enough room for everybody coming so set up and had late dinner just before major storm with lots of rain and fair bit of wind. woke Fri morning to blue skies and a few rapidly clearing lakes around the campsites Other members arrived steadily throughout the day Jim &Karen, Mick & Sonya, Chris & Eddy, Andrew, Rod & Paula with Ryan . All set up settled in for dinners and drinks and a relatively early night ready for drives next day.
Saturday morning another perfect day had brekkie then logged in for our morning drive "Tylers Trial " which was a double black Hard nothing too demanding lots of good hill climbs and descents on some of the rockier tracks in glasshouse as well as taking in Ball bearing. a good 4 hour drive and back to relax for arvo and for country 4wd meeting attended by Jim and Andrew. Repairs on Ryan's car replace alternator lucky to pick one up in Caboolture and some side step mods on Andrew's as well as some door alterations on Rod's Bronco led into dinner drinks and stories some new some old but all good as well as AFL grand final on Chris and Eddy's massive tv then over to hear the band "Bubblefry" play for a while around the fire pits provided but decided we could hear them better back at camp another good night had by all.
Sunday weather perfect again early start as our drive line up was 7.30 for Chopper's Rock Run triple black Extreme Ryan with JJ as navie in his GQ joined myself & Julie with the jeep on this one. Hard to believe that with all our exploring of Glasshouse over the years these guys managed to find new tracks and this one (Rocky Road ) was absolutely awesome with big rock ascents and descents lots of tight work very technical and nonstop hard. As we finished fairly quickly he took us on another run called The Rollercoaster and again hard and fun most of the cars got through without damage the exception being a 6.6 litre GU which damaged both rear quarter panels but for all thoroughly enjoyable so back to camp for lunch and get ready for afternoon drive .
1.40 saw us lining up for afternoon drive Boggo Road which a few of the other members had done the previous day another great drive in the Glasshouse area then back for R and R. Sunday afternoon was the time for games and fun on the main Corroboree field so as a club we went over for a while and participated in the Tug of Snatch which we thought we were a shoe in for a win but only to be humbled by the Gold coast club so back to camp for drinks dinner and frivolities as well as watching NRL grand final again on Ed's massive Tv late night tonight made 10pm.
Monday late start sleep in then brekkiethen drive as a club with Ryan leading basically redoing Boggo Road track then back to camp to pack up all left by 11am .
All in all a great Corroboree hosted by Brisbane 4wd club who did an excellent job all round we had a great time.
Kevin & Julie
We arrived at the Corroboree early Friday morning to find Kev and Julie and Mic and Sonia already there. After setting up, Julie and I headed into town to get ingredients for Mr Old'Sullivan's birthday cake and coffee. After everyone had arrived the afternoon was spent relaxing and catching up. After dinner it was time for the old fella to cut the cake and get ready for bed, I think most of us made it 'til 9pm... just!
Saturday came and we all headed off on our chosen drives, Jim had decided a blue drive was in order. Unfortunately, the boy child decided that there was no way he was going on a blue drive and spent the whole weekend in "the good car" driven by young Ryan. I was a little concerned when I spotted the power lines but he took all the chicken tracks, hard to believe I know! And what's even harder to believe is that while I was waiting patiently for him to guide the car in front of us down this (what I call steep and everyone else a speed bump) hill, I jumped into the driver's seat and drove to the bottom.... not sure how I managed to not run the husband over, when my hands were shaking and I couldn't see him over the bonnet.... still don't see what all the excitement is all about.
The evening saw us head over to the main area to mingle with other campers and listen to the band, before heading back to our little private fire, courtesy of Eddie and Chris.... a night full of laughter, laughter and more laughter ensued.
Sunday Jim hopped in with Andrew leaving me to enjoy some quiet time. Sunday afternoon and the games were on, the tug-of-snatch was a little competitive with the other Club's offering our men bribes to jump ship, we made it to round three but alas the Gold Coast Club were the winners.
Monday morning found some of boys going on another drive and then back to camp to finish packing and head home.
A great weekend, full of laughter, fun and new memories!
