Caloundra City 4WD Club Inc. Day drive – Pomona
Sunday, 9 August 2016
Weather- partly cloudy with sunny periods. 18-20*C
Most members/visitors met at BP Northbound and then travelled up to meet others at Cooroy.
Entered Kennedy’s Road and took a back route to Pomona rather than the usual bitumen way.
Through the powerline track where we reached Pomona soon after and all were required to sign the participation form.
Comfort stop and coffee for those who needed. Picked up 2 more visitors as well.
Off again, drove past the base of Mount Cooroora and onto Cooran where we did a lovely tour of this small township before heading up to Traveston Way. Passed Cobb and Co camping on the way (one of CC4WD’s favourite camping spots).
Arrived at the base of Mothar Mountain at the rock pools. All out and explored around and became acquainted with old and new friends. All the children were very busy exploring the rocks and cascading water.
Onto the dirt road and we found the base of Motharmountain around the other side. Those with off road tyres , due to heavy rain the night before, were encouraged to give it a try to get to the top. All who tried, made it; others looked on.
From there we drove to the Lookout where we set up for lunch. (James M McKane lookout)
The children played and ran all over the grass while the ducks and parents looked on.
CC4WD Club generously provided Hot Dogs for all to enjoy.
Kerri had also made some homemade pumpkin soup for those who wanted it. Thanks Kerri! Yummy!
After lunch, some needed to get home so we said our goodbyes and continued and backtracked to Kennedy’s Road where we said goodbye to all and went our separate ways.
