Trip Report Woodford Camp February 2017
Attending the trip were Rod, Paula, Ryan, Jim, Kiwi, Jeff, Scott and new member Wayne. Also on the trip were visitor’s Trevor and Dave.
Arrived Friday Evening to find Rod, Paula, Ryan and Kiwi had set up down where we were for the Corroboree. Also set up were a couple of Gold Coast members who had ducked off to the pub for dinner.
We set up the club gazebo and camp, and then started a late happy hour with more members arriving including new club member Wayne Jones.
After the intros we all sat down and got to know each other and our favourite beverage. After many laughs and a few stories shared by both clubs we retired at a reasonable hour (wink)
Saturday morning after breakfast a few more members arrived and we planned our trips for the day.
Because of the numbers and vehicles we split into two trips with Ryan & Paula leading one and myself leading the other.
If you are wondering what happened to Big Rod, well he went to Nambour to try and get another tail shaft as the 4 day old one on the Bronco broke during Friday arvos recky.
I believe they had a lot of fun on Ryans Drive going by the stories and photos, while i took the new members and visitors from both clubs on an easy drive up rocky creek rd in Bellthorpe Forest and arrived back at camp in time to join the others for lunch.
After lunch we car pooled and went for a quick 1 hour drive (haha) I found myself in my old 80 which was a lot of fun to see what the old girl could still do. Thanks Jeff
We headed back to camp at around 4.00 for happy hour which was enjoyed by all under our club gazebo. Thanks to the GC Club for a great feed.
For dinner a number of members went to the pub while others stayed back and got a fire going with a great night had by all with stories from the days adventures.
Sunday morning saw a few go home early while others went on a scenic trip to Neurum Creek and I led a small group for a quick morning drive which finished at lunch time.
We said our goodbyes and headed home after a great weekend.
I would like to say thank you to Club President Chris, his lovely first lady Jenny and all of the members of the Gold Coast Club for making the trip and I look forward to many more trips with you as our two club form a great relationship.
Finally a big thank to Ryan, for taking on a leadership role at such a young age. Well done.
