Trip report-Kin Kin
Rod, Andrew and I arrived at Kin Kin on the Friday night wih our half finished caravan in tow.
Kiwi was already set up with a trailer full of firewood and a great fire going. We camped on the showgrounds at the back of the pub.
Saturday morning kiwi lead a drive into the Ringtail Forest. It was very scenic and good 4 wheel driving with not much mud. (for a change)
Got back to camp to find Kevin & Lorraine and Barry & Stephi all set up.
Kiwi had won a huge chicken tray at the pub the night before so he cooked a beautiful Butter Chicken in his camp oven for dinner for all of us that night.
The pub put on live music on the Saturday night so we went in for awhile and enjoyed Peter's hospitality and then went back to the camp fire.
Sunday morning Kiwi took us out to 2 lookouts which he said were just normal drives.
The first one he obviously hadn't been out there for ages as it was quite a bit overgrown but well worth the drive when we got there. The views were a picture.
The second look out was well known and easy to get too with great views too.
We headed back to camp and enjoyed a tasty roast lunch and Sunday music session at the pub by Linda Street.
We were joined by Robyn,Steve & Summer, Bill and Yvonne and a surprise visit from Meaghan who stayed overnight.
Kevin and Lorraine left that afternoon as Lorraine had the flu and was really miserable.
On the Monday which was Anzac day Andrew and Meaghan packed up and went home while Barry & Stephi and Rod and I walked over to the 10 am Anzac service at the church followed by a memorial service and march in the park opposite the church. There were alot of people there and they provided a beautiful morning tea with freshly baked lamington's and anzac biscuits etc
We walked back to camp and packed up and came home.
Although it was a small group of us we had a great time
Trip report for Glasshouse Mountains
Trip leader was Kevvy
13 cars went on the first half of the day.
Everybody met at side road on Steve Irvin Way. We departed at 9.35 headed to Peachester shops for airing down.
Started trip heading down the track when Little Rod Vince received the first fine of the day for not marking corners past the bee hives.
Chris and Julia in there Great Wall and Ken and Kerry in the Pajero needed some guidance down a descent. Thanks to Kev all went well.
We proceeded along the track where we ended up at a muddy crossing where we stopped for a group photo. We continued along until we came to three play hills. Kyle and Rooke had a play. Continued to look out for a bbq lunch and a few repairs. After lunch we said goodbye to Ken and Kerry and Chris and Julia jumped in with Kev. Departing at 12.30 we headed opposite Big Red to a couple of play hills. Scary moment had by Mic and Wayne. Heading down track towards Big Red where winching was required for some cars to get up the other side towards Little Reds descent where we where all guided down. (Really narly little down hill)
Continued along some good fun tracks. We came across a track that only 3 cars where prepared to do. Big Rod Kyle and Kev went down into a mud hole then proceeded up the other side. All made it through unscathed. Continuing along to meet up with the group. A couple of other narly little up hills on the way to the mud hole where another were stuck we continued around them after watching them. Half went back the way we came and we all met up and headed to the lookout where we ended the day. A fantastic day was had by all.
