Pumpkin Festival trip report.
Jim karen and Jay or Peter in the awesome troopy were first to arrive at camp on Friday morning. Deno and myself around 20 minutes after Peter . Kevin, Julie and Kevin’s mum and dad arrived just before lunch. Next to follow during the afternoon was Eddy and Chris and then Brad and Sam later.
During the Friday arvo we were amused by a 2 story 5 wheeler being towed by a ford ranger. Later on Kev ends up going to their rescue to help with electric problems. They were extremely grateful for as the guy needed power for medical reasons at night. Well done Kev. Still think the business needs to expand to caravans. As always a great night relaxing around Kev and Julies gas heater and a good night had by all.
Saturday morning encountered a slow start but all of the camp crew bar Deno and myself due to medical issues still, went off to Boat Mountain for a morning walk. Thanks for the video and pics Karen. It showed a great time had by all. Chris and Dayn arrived Saturday morning to finish the group. Saturday afternoon ended up with us doing a couple of winery trips and a drive to Peterson Dam. Beautiful country by the way. We were going to head to a water fall but a consensus decided that return to camp was the go. Think a Rabbitos game and a drink was a good factor to that. Well done Rabbitos Jim. Just relaxing around camp enjoying great company was the go for the rest of Saturday evening around a great open fire pit with a surprise visit from Gail and co.
Sunday ended up us all heading off our separate ways mostly some focused on cooking shows, others on looking around markets and the street parade. Also there was quite a few other attractions to enjoy. Pig races seemed to be popular. Chris was even spotted there too. Some of the guys started up the hill by 2 pm excited by the anticipation of the pumpkin roll. Fun was had by all watching that. After pumpkin roll most headed back to pack up and depart for home.
Thanks all for a great weekend. Cheers Rob
Meeting at the Tewantin ferry Friday arvo about 5.00 was Jim, Eddie & Chris, Kris & Dayne, Rod & Heather and Rod & Paula.
We crossed the ferry and headed up the beach to little fresh water, where we looked for a camp site.
After a bit of fun recovering little Rod and Big Rod who didn't let their tyres down we set up camp and started a fire. While all this was happening Barry & Stephi arrived and while settingup their camp they dicovered they had no air mattress. We spent the night with a few drinks.
Saturday morning saw visitors Robin and son Mattt arrive to help with cleanup.
After breakfast we registered, picked uop our bags and gloves and headed off to clean up The Leisha Track and The Bay side. After picking up many bags of rubish we set up for lunch and a swim in the bay.
After lunch we dropped off our bags and went back to camp to get ready for the party put on by Sunshine Coast Surfrider Foundation.
At the party a few members won some prizes and all the mums got a bottle of wine. They provided a free sausage sizzle and a live band. After the great entertainment we went back to camp to warm up around our fire.
Sunday morning we had breakfast, packed up and moved down on to the beach and watch the day go by then headed home. A great weekend was had by all and we would like to encourage others to join us on the next clean up weekend.
