Canungra Gold Coast Trip Report
Meeting at the Shell on the highway were Jim & Karen, Kev & Julie and Rod & Paula. After the mandatory coffee we headed down the highway where we were joined by Trever.
After heading over the gateway we headed towards Ipswich and after losing Tever at the turnoff and making a wrong turn before Beaudesert found us all going different ways and being overtaken by Rob & Deno. We got to camp just in time for Chris from the Gold Coast club to open the gate into the property.
After setting up camp Brad and Sam arrived followed by Dave, Nigel and Danielle, Rod and Heather, then Barry and Steff.
As the sun went down it was time for happy hour, before heading to the Canungra Pub for dinner which was a great feed, then back to camp for a night around the fire with a few ales and a lot of laughs with our host from the Gold Coast.
Saturday we headed for a look out only to find a lock gate, so headed back to camp to try a different track to the lookout with all going well until the track just became too wet to continue so after some 15 point turns we turn all the cars around. The last was Chris the President of the Gold Coast Club and he needed a little bit of extra help and needed to winch back down the track before we could turn him around.
Once all down safely, we headed back to camp for lunch. A few members headed in to town and later on we went for a run through the creek and a few had a go at driving down a rock wall.
Saturday night was feast of flavours as we had a communal dinner, with all members cooking many different dishes for everyone to share, follow by another night around the fire.
Sunday morning some members went to Tamborine Mountain to do some sightseeing, while others went to check out Swan Gully 4wd Park. Our trip was short lived as the Bronco proved that while it was great on the flat, as soon as you put it to the test uphill lets just say it broke again.
So back to camp where we caught up with the others and packed up camp and after saying goodbyes to our hosts we all headed home with a quick detour to load the Bronco on to the trailer before heading off on a tour through Brisbane and enjoyed the lights of the city which was interesting drive with caravans in tow.
To our hosts and friends The Gold Coast Club we would like to say thank you for a great weekend and look forward to our next trip together.
