Cedar Grove Family Feast Camp

TRIP REPORT FOR SUNDAY 10TH JULY
We started out around 9.30-10ish with 5 vehicles, Andrew with Jim as navigator/passenger as Jim had already broken his 4WD the day before.  Although I was very impressed with the quick fix they did on it, who would have thought a stubby holder would be able to hold a car together and get him back to camp.  Anyway they were leading the group then we had Brad and Sam followed closely by Sam’s son and daughter-in-law,  then we had Rob, and I got talked into going with Little Rod the Maniac as Ken had hurt his back and our Pajero would not have made all those hills and tracks. Little  Rod also had another passenger Paul . So we set off on the trip we are travelling along fine until the track is blocked off my a lot of fallen trees too many to clear to make a pathway through, so we then turned around and headed off in a different direction to somewhere else, I still think they had no idea where we were going.
Andrew and  Jim tested out a track to the right and got half way up and then turned around and came back we all watched and waited at the bottom.  So then they headed off on another track and found a huge hill to climb up,Little  Rod gets a fine for getting us bogged in a rock pile at the bottom, forgot to lock in the hubs.  We get up the hill and guess what was on the other side another huge hill to go down which was pretty steep and rocky and rough.  We kept on this trail for a while then Sam’s son did a CV joint in his Nissan Nivara just as he was heading up a hill, so they turned around and Sam and Brad went back with them. The vehicle still driveable but not on these rough tracks.  So now we were down to 3 vehicles, we headed off into the distance and we come across a massive big steep hill which was huge and really rough so the thrill seekers Andrew and Jim have a go at getting up it.  I was in the back of Little Rods car pleading with him not to go up there, so he and Paul thought it was funny to tease me and say yep we’re heading up there to shortly.  I am so lucky I went to the toilet before we started because I was nearly wetting my pants just  watching  Andrew and Jim the front wheels of his vehicle were lifting off the ground, very scary stuff for me but everyone else seemed to enjoy it.  Thank god they only got half way up and had to turn around so I was pleased to take the low road.
Paul seemed to be enjoying the trip, I guess the good thing for him was he was in the front seat and he couldn’t see the steepness of the hills and the roughness of the tracks, although he got a running commentary from me in the back “OMG OMG we’re not going there are we?”  He just keep laughing and hanging on.  Although the whole time he was looking at himself in the mirror, he had the sunvisor down in the front seat which had the mirror on it.  And I am so glad Little Rod knew what he was doing as I was hanging on so tight my knuckles went white, he drives like a MANIAC , foot down and go, go go.  I think Little Rod was probably wishing he hadn’t taken me as a passenger as I was pretty quiet most of the way until the scary stuff and then I would freak out.    Anyway eventually we found our way back to the track and made it back to camp.  I must admit the few times when I did open my eyes and look around and relax the scenery of the bush and landscape was lovely.  But I have decided next time I think I will bring my colouring in book and pencils and sit with Heather back at camp and relax colouring in.
But thanks guys, for an adrenaline fix on a Sunday drive and for getting me home safe and sound.

Sam's short trip and trip report

So myself Brad & our son along with his girlfriend arrived on Sunday morning for the day drive . Most campers hadn't had breakfast , so we headed back into Amamoor for brekky.
Ready to head off on our return with 5 cars in convoy along the fire trails . Approximately 30 min into the drive our son did a CV joint up one of the hills , consequently we left the group along with our son and made for home .

Trip report 10th July- Cedar Grove
Arrived at camp about 4pm Friday avo .Jim, Andrew and Rob were already there.
We set our van up and settled in for dinner and a great night around the camp fire.
Saturday morning Kerri & Ken arrived with their caravan. Also Robyn, James and Heidi arrived with  their  campervan. Steve arrived on his bike later in the day.
My car was playing up on gas so I jumped in with Andrew for the drive. Heather stayed behind as she had a sore hip.
We set out on our drive and wasn’t too long we had the winch practise happening. The hill we wanted to go up was not doable and it was nearly as hard going back the other way.
With everybody up we set off to explore other areas.Got back to camp and stated cooking our family feast for dinner. The club supplied the lamb, pork and chicken and we all bought a side dish or a dessert to share.Even Meaghan turned up which was a nice surprise.
Thank you to very one that came. The food was yummy and the the fire, drinks and company was great.
Cheers
Little Rod
