Rod and I arrived at Goomeri Show grounds late Friday avo.
We had our grandson Blake with us who is 4. Rob and Deno, Barry with his 2 poodles were already set up.
We went over to the Bowls club for dinner which Rob had kindly booked as we all thought it would be busy.
It was like a step back in time. The food was very average but we still enjoyed ourselves taking in the atmosphere of the club. Had a good night around Rob’s fire which he made back at camp. Saturday we all went exploring the town. There were a few stalls already set up for the festival. Had a great feed in the bakery.
In the avo there was a horse and cattle muster show going on in the show grounds which we all went to for a while.
In the evening there was a band dinner for those who wanted to go. We went over for a while but it was cold so we went back to our campfire. Sunday was the festival. It started with the parade at 10.30 down the main street. This was great. Down the main street and in the parks there were market stalls galore, bands, jumping castles, pumpkin displays, food stalls, pumpkin competitions etc.
We also met up with Kiwi and his friend who was proudly wearing his club shirt. We went back to the show grounds for awhile as the famous pumpkin rolling wasn’t till 2pm.
Blake was getting tired after walking around and had a melt down because he wasn’t allowed to roll a pumpkin down the hill cause he wasn’t registered and didn’t have the right size pumpkin…So Rod put him in the car and we headed home without seeing any pumpkin rolling.
The others went for a look. Thank you to those who came. It was a good social weekend. Well worth going to.
